We'll meet at Posse Grounds and leave from there up through Oak Creek Canyon at 9:30AM. We'll merge on to I-17 and I-40 East. We'll exit I-40 and pickup AZ Hwy. 89 and head North (towards page). We should arrive at Cameron for lunch around 11:30. After lunch, we'll head back South and exit from AZ Hwy. 89 at the entrance to Wupatki National Monument. We'll meet at the visitor center and take in the prominent ruin. From there it's up to you what you want to take in. There are more ruins or just make the scenic loop through Sunset Crater. Or head back to the Hwy. on to home. Should you decide to make the loop, it's around 36 miles and you will end back on to AZ Hwy. 89 and closer (South) to Flagstaff).

Join in for a fun road trip to Cameron Trading Post and Wupatki National Monument. Cameron Trading Post has been in operation since 1916. The trading post and restaurant will take you back into time. The furnishings are elegant and unique. The restaurant offer unique Navajo and Hopi cuisine. The pricing is reasonable. If you like to people watch, you'll not be disappointed.

Wupatki offers a glimpse to the ancient past. Several pueblo communities are visible on paved roads! You can take in the sights from the comfort of your car and you can get up close if you choose. There is a visitor center to bring it all together.

Should you choose to, you can do a mini loop road trip all the way through Wupatki and Sunset Crater National Monument. Wow! Two for One.

Key times:

Meet at Posse Grounds before 9:30AM (We leave from there at 9:30AM).

Lunch at Cameron Trading Post. After Lunch we'll go to Wupatki Ntl Monument.

Take in the Wupatki Ruin/Visitor Center.

Free time to take in the rest of Wupatki and Sunset Crater Ntl Monument or head back home in a more direct route.

Lunch is individual tickets. The National Monuments do have entrance fees if you do not have a pass.

This is a long day trip. If you want to go, but not drive, we will coordinate carpooling.

Note: An entrance fee is required to enter the National Monument. If you have a Senior Pass -- you're good.
