This month's speaker was Emery Littlefield from the
Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff. Emery is an event
coordinator for the observatory and
shared the history and many of the astounding discoveries made there. One interesting fact
is that the Lowell Observatory is the largest privately funded observatory in the country which allows them
the opportunity to conduct unique research that publicly funded institutions may not be able to pursue. The
club is going to have to visit the observatory in one of our upcoming events.
